Well I have ventured into the unknown world of Facebook ………… So far so good, “updated my status” tonight with some pictures and it all worked yippee!!!!!! Thank you to all those who have liked my page. I have just added a link on my sidebar if you would like to go across and visit. Hope it works ok as when I click on it I’m taken to my admin page & such so hopefully you will just get my page. I think it will take me a while to get used to it – thank goodness my daughter seems to know what she’s doing – Thanks!!!!!
Speaking of new things, today I went to the Patchwork Tea House in Warburton for a visit, lunch and to drop off my new sample wall hanging called “Reindeer Wishes”. If you happen to be travelling in the area pop in an say Hi to Marilyn, Cindy & Gary and Co. And you also have to try the scones (the best around!!!!!!!)
Oh, you can see the samples too while you are there and also lots of other beautiful fabrics, threads & patterns by other talented designers.
This pattern co ordinates with “Stars in the Woods” table runner and uses the new fabric by Lynette Anderson called Starry Night. I also used my favourite threads – Cottage Garden Threads. The colours I used in this was Farmer’s Market and Canna Lily. Farmer’s Market is just perfect for Christmas projects in traditional Christmas colours.
Patterns are available from The Patchwork Tea House and also Mrs Martin’s Quilt Shop.
While in the hills I also popped in to visit Karen at Mrs Martin’s Quilt Shop. I just love her cute little shop. Here are a couple of pictures. I will be there on Saturday from 9.30am till 1pm so if you are in the area why not pop in!!!!
Now it’s time for a snooze – it’s been a long day!!
Well the AQC 2014 is over for another year. This year was it’s 10th Celebration!! There are going to be lots of pictures on this post.
Every year they have a Quilt Challenge and this year’s theme was “Ten”. The winner was Alison Withers from Victoria with her quilt “10 together equals teamwork”.
Here are some of my favourites.
This one was equal 2nd by Jill Hessing entitled “10 in my Tank”.
This is so iconic to Melbourne and is entitled “Tram Route No 10” by Sue de Vanny.
These are some of the Best in Australia winning quilts that I liked.
It is lovely to see these quilts on display all at the one time. Such skill!!
This is the Rajah Quilt re-created by Leesa Siegele.
If you would like to read up on the history of The Rajah Quilt click on the link. The original is amazing and only goes on show once a year due to its fragility, size & the fact that it is light sensitive.
Then there was the Living Colour! Celebrating Life across the Spectrum Textile Art Exhibition curated by Brenda Gael Smith. This display was beautiful. I only took a few photo’s but if you click on the link you will be able to view the exhibition and see where it will be touring around the country.
This last one was my favourite.
It is over for another year. I purchased a few things including some Liberty Fat Quarters & some Tilda fabric – yummy!!!! Now the fun begins – designing something new.
Hope you have enjoyed this long post, especially if you were unable to get to the show. Time to soak the feet ……
This is my new pattern that I have just released at the AQC in Melbourne today. It is a table runner that features simple stitchery & English Paper Piecing which is then appliqued on. It is on display on The Patchwork Tea House stand. The fabric is called Starry Night and is Lynette Anderson’s latest Christmas range that has just been released. I love the fabric!!
So if you are at the show, pop by Marilyn’s stand to have a look and while you’re at the show come by and say Hi to me on Blue Willow Cottage’s stand where you can see some of my other designs.
I will pop back later with some pictures of some of the quilts that are on display at the show – they are always amazing!!! Such talent we have here. Note to self – “Don’t forget the camera!”
What a busy time it has been leading up to the Stitching Soiree.
Here are some pictures of the room before the ladies arrived. Didn’t have time to take any more as it was so busy. I had a lovely day meeting lots of gorgeous ladies and a lot of fun was had by all. Yummy food and lots of stitching – what more could a girl ask for!!!
I can now show you my projects for the day. There was a Journal called “Dainty Daisies”, a writing compendium called “Just a Little Note” and my new small quilt “Bohemian Rose”. These patterns can be ordered from Mrs Martin’s Quilt Shop and will be available soon on my website.
I met lots of new ladies and finally met some ladies whose blogs I have read and love!!! Shez has some pictures on her blog of the day, so pop by and have a little look.
Now it’s full steam ahead for the AQC in Melbourne this week. Hope to catch up with you there!!!!!
